Description du projet
Air pollution is the leading environmental health risk globally, causing 7 million premature deaths annually. Particulate matter (PM) is responsible for 25% of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, with 400,000 deaths in Europe alone. Despite this impact, current monitoring systems measure only total PM mass without identifying chemical composition or pollution sources, preventing authorities from designing effective mitigation strategies. Today, 99% of people worldwide breathe air exceeding WHO safety limits.
Aerospec developed the Aerosol InfraRed (AIR) Monitor, the world's first autonomous instrument performing continuous infrared spectroscopy on atmospheric PM. AIRMon provides near-real-time chemical composition analysis and source identification in a single device, transforming the way we monitor air quality. This GRS project accelerated AIRMon's path to market through industrial design optimization, supply chain diversification, and strategic customer pilots.
Etat/résultats intermédiaires
We completed hardware industrialization and established robust supply chain management, enabling scalable manufacturing with comprehensive quality protocols. We validated AIRMon through multiple international paid pilot deployments (France, Greece and Japan), demonstrating market demand and technical performance across diverse environmental conditions. The project established Aerospec's commercial credibility and positioned the company for accelerated market entry with proven technology and established customer relationships.
